GATE material has a one-attempt life
GATE preparation runs on a fairly fixed reading list: the standard subject references for your paper, a topic-wise previous-year question compilation, and often a printed postal or coaching study package. Almost all of it is bought for a single attempt cycle and then finished with.
That makes it close to ideal for second-hand purchase. The candidate selling has typically used the books for eight to twelve months, kept them carefully because their result depended on them, and has no further use for them the day the score card arrives.
