A compact list, bought once
SSC, bank and railway preparation runs on a famously short reading list: one reasoning book, one quantitative aptitude book, one English grammar and vocabulary reference, a general-awareness compilation, and previous-year paper sets for the specific exam. Most candidates buy it once and use it for a year or two.
Because the list is so standardised, a used set is very likely to be exactly what you need — the same three or four standard authors appear on nearly every candidate's shelf.
- Reasoning: verbal and non-verbal, the least edition-sensitive book you will buy.
- Quantitative aptitude: chapter theory plus a large practice bank.
- English: grammar reference, vocabulary and comprehension practice.
- Exam-specific previous-year papers for SSC CGL, CHSL, bank PO, clerk or railway grades.
