Books on OldTextBooks.com are sent to you by the student, parent or seller who listed them, using a third-party courier, anywhere in India. We do not run our own delivery fleet and we do not hold stock in a warehouse. This page explains what that means for your order in practice.
1. What delivery costs
Delivery is charged at a flat ₹100 for every five books in an order. One book costs ₹100 to deliver; five books also cost ₹100; six books cost ₹200, and so on. The charge is calculated on your order and shown to you before you pay — there is nothing added afterwards.
Because the charge is per group of five books rather than per book, ordering several books together is far cheaper per book than placing separate orders on separate days.
2. When your book is dispatched
Your order only moves towards dispatch once your UPI payment has been checked by our team and the order is marked paid. After that, the seller packs the book and hands it to a courier. We ask sellers to dispatch promptly. Dispatch time depends on seller availability and courier collection; the order status records when the parcel has actually shipped.
3. Tracking your parcel
When the book is dispatched, the courier company name, the tracking number and a tracking link are recorded against your order. You can see the current status at any time in two ways:
- from the My Orders page when you are signed in, or
- by entering your order reference on our order tracking page — no sign-in needed.
4. How long delivery usually takes
Delivery time varies by origin, destination and courier. The following ranges are planning guidance, not a promise:
- Same-city and major-metro deliveries may arrive sooner.
- Inter-city deliveries commonly need several working days after dispatch.
- Remote or low-serviceability pin codes can take longer or may not be accepted by a courier.
Exam season, festivals, weather and local courier strikes all add delay. If your parcel has clearly stopped moving, contact us with your order reference and we will chase it.
5. Address accuracy
Please check your delivery address and phone number carefully before paying. Couriers in India rely heavily on a working phone number to complete a delivery. If your address is incomplete, tell us as soon as possible — once a parcel has been handed to the courier, the address usually cannot be changed.
6. Failed or returned deliveries
If nobody can be reached at the address, most couriers attempt delivery once or twice more and then return the parcel to the sender. If that happens, contact us with your order reference. Where the delivery failed because the address or phone number given was wrong, a further delivery attempt may need to be paid for again.
7. Damaged or lost parcels
Open the parcel in front of the delivery person where you can, and keep the packaging if anything looks crushed Then raise a refund request from My Orders and keep photos of the parcel and packaging — transit damage and confirmed lost parcels are handled under our refund policy, and approved refunds are credited to your OldTextBooks wallet.
8. Where we deliver
We deliver within India only. We do not ship internationally at present.
